Authorized dealer Curacao (formerly La Curacao) from Phoenix partnered with Rockford Fosgate by providing a 20’x20’ tent to shade the mini SoundLab and 1996 Chevy Impala (featured in VOLUME 5.0 magazine, Subsonic Flight, Page #33) provided by RG Auto Group from Tucson, Arizona. Located inside vendor’s row next to the food trucks, “The all-day event was packed with car audio fanatics,” explained Heath Lunsford. “We were running through 30 to 40 SPL demo’s at a time” Heath continued. “We took 3 minute breaks in between runs just to ‘air out’ the Pressure Chamber because the weather was a bit warm. We wanted fanatics to enjoy the experience.”

The Mesa Super Show hosted some of the western region’s best looking vehicles with enthusiasts from Los Angeles, New Mexico and Sacramento making the trek to show off their beautiful cars. Most everyone who experienced the mini SoundLab knew who Rockford Fosgate was, either because their friends were showing-off amplifiers and speakers, or they had RF gear in their own rides.

“The best part of the show was the people,” explained Megan Foster “Despite the heat, everyone was very cool and very polite!” “It was great to see families with their kids enjoying the show. Many outsiders don’t realize, but many low-rider clubs are centered with a family atmosphere. This is how they enjoy their time, fixing up cars and trucks with their brothers, fathers and friends.

It was a lot of fun being a part of such a huge event and Rockford Fosgate definitely made its mark, just ask the restaurant/bar located far across the street that could hear the mini SoundLab pounding all day long! The mini SoundLab features a 3,600 Watt PRESSURE CHAMBER with 12 speakers, including six Punch 15″ subwoofers, and gives participants the opportunity to experience the full PUNCH of Rockford Fosgate car audio equipment.

Rockford Fosgate is pleased to have been a sponsor at the Carey Hart Charity Golf Invitational held February 8th at Sycuan Golf Resort in El Cajon, CA. In addition to hosting lunch and providing a prize package for the 17th hole, Rockford also participated in the golf tournament with two foursomes comprised of Rockford Fosgate sales personnel and retail partners from around the US. Our dealers had a great time hanging out with supercross legends and industry vets all while supporting a great cause in Road2Recovery.

Road2Recovery is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping AMA licensed professional motocross/supercross riders with financial assistance if they sustain career-ending injuries.

Kevin Kuenzie and Heath Lunsford from Rockford Fosgate coordinated the tailgate party at 2pm in the parking lot of Anaheim stadium. All dealers who won tickets to the race also received pit passes, a POP bag, and were entered into a drawing to win Rockford Fosgate products and Punch Wear at the event. Food, beverages and soft drinks were provided during the tailgate festivities. Sales Regional Kevin Kuenzie stated, “The event went very well! Fabrication for the mini SoundLab took 2 months. The crew of three led by Mark Lowe, worked days and most nights over the extensive 60 day period. “This isn’t a typical demo vehicle”, states Mark. “We designed the mini SoundLab to work like its big brother SoundLab, so it could provide hundreds of demonstrations, drive to the next event, and still run strong!”

The Pressure Chamber consists of three Punch P1000X1bd amplifiers that generate 3,000 watts to six Punch P3 15” subwoofers, firing into your back as you rest on a low profile bench that comfortably seats two adults. Once the doors are closed, you’re faced with two Punch Pro 1.5” tweeters and four Punch Pro 8” midrange powered by one Punch P600X4 multi-channel amplifier.

The chamber is much smaller than its big brother “SoundLab” so more impactful SPL (Sound Pressure Level) can be generated. Once the doors close and faced toward the Punch Pro speakers “It feels like they could possibly rip your face off” states Brian Von Pasecky, one of the vehicle fabricators.

With so much SPL generated, Rockford Fosgate does take precautionary measures. Josh Kyler explains, “A pair of sound-deadening ear phones are suggested for each occupant” to prevent any hearing damage. “We also have [Punch Out] or panic buttons on each side of the Pressure Chamber to immediately stop the interactive sound and light show for those not tough enough to handle it.”

Driving the mini SoundLab doesn’t need to be a drag, so the fabrication team created a “Sound Quality” system for the front occupants. A Power T600-2 amplifier drives a pair of Power T3 6.5” component systems, while a Power T1000-1bdCP amplifier powers two Power T0 10” subwoofers.

With the popularity of the original “SoundLab West” and “SoundLab East” vehicles, Rockford Fosgate plans on building several “mini SoundLab” vehicles so reach more customers throughout the year in the United States. To experience the SoundLab or mini SoundLab, stay tuned to our Event Calendar.
